A SALES ASSISTANT THAT NEVER SLEEPS

AI Chatbot Development.

AI Chatbots That Capture Leads While You Work.

An AI chatbot answers your visitors' questions instantly, day and night, then captures the lead, books the appointment or hands the conversation to your team. Webgel builds chatbots trained on your business and integrated properly with your website, CRM and booking systems.

The enquiries you never see

Most websites only convert visitors who are ready to fill in a form or pick up the phone. Everyone else leaves, including people who had a simple question and would have bought if someone had answered it. A well-built AI chatbot answers those questions at 11pm on a Sunday, captures the visitor's details and books the appointment or passes a qualified lead to your inbox. That is the whole point: fewer lost visitors, more conversations that turn into customers.

These are not the old clunky chatbots

If your experience of chatbots is a rigid button-clicking widget that says "I didn't understand that", it is worth looking again. Modern chatbots are built on the same large language models behind tools like ChatGPT, and they hold natural conversations. Trained on your actual content, your services, prices, coverage area and policies, they answer the way a knowledgeable member of staff would, and they say "I'll pass you to the team" instead of inventing an answer when they are unsure.

What a chatbot can do for your business

The use cases we build most often: answering pre-sales questions about services, availability and pricing; capturing and qualifying leads, so you wake up to a name, number and summary of what the customer needs rather than a missed opportunity; booking appointments directly into your calendar; handling routine customer service questions about orders, deliveries and returns for e-commerce stores; and guiding visitors to the right page, form or product. On WhatsApp, the same assistant can handle the channel many customers now prefer to use.

Trained on your business, not the whole internet

A chatbot is only useful if it is accurate. We build yours around a knowledge base drawn from your website, price lists, FAQs and any documents you give us, and we constrain it to that material. It represents your business in your tone of voice, follows your rules about what it can and cannot promise, and hands over to a human wherever a conversation needs one. Before launch we test it against the awkward questions real customers ask, and after launch you can read every conversation it has.

Built into your website properly

Because Webgel builds websites for a living, your chatbot is not a floating widget bolted onto a page. We integrate it with the site itself and the systems behind it: your CRM, your booking calendar, your order data on WooCommerce, OpenCart or Shopify, and your notification channels, so a conversation becomes a lead record, a booking or a support ticket without anyone retyping anything. If you want the follow-up automated too, our AI automation service picks up where the conversation ends.

GDPR and data handling

Chat conversations often contain personal data, so we treat them that way. Your chatbot runs with clear privacy messaging, collects only what it needs, stores transcripts appropriately and uses AI providers with suitable data-processing terms. We will walk you through exactly where conversation data goes so you can answer confidently if a customer or regulator ever asks.

Training, Testing & Tuning

A knowledge base built from your real content, hard pre-launch testing and ongoing tuning based on what customers actually ask.

How We Build and Launch Your Chatbot.

A chatbot speaks to your customers from the moment it goes live, so we build it the way you would train a new member of staff: give it the right knowledge, set clear boundaries and check its work.

1. Scope the job the bot is doing

A chatbot that tries to do everything does nothing well. We agree its job first: lead capture for a service business, support deflection for a store, bookings for a clinic. That decision shapes the knowledge base, the integrations and how we measure success.

2. Build the knowledge base

We assemble the content the bot is allowed to speak from: your web pages, service details, pricing rules, policies and FAQs. Gaps get filled at this stage, because a question the knowledge base cannot answer is a question the bot should not attempt.

3. Design the conversation and the handover

We write the bot's instructions, personality and boundaries, then design the moments that matter: how it asks for contact details, when it offers a booking, and exactly when it hands over to a human. The handover is where most chatbots fail, so we treat it as a first-class feature rather than an error state.

4. Integrate and test

The bot is connected to your CRM, calendar or store, then tested hard, including the questions you hope customers never ask. You review real test transcripts and we tune the behaviour until you would be happy for it to speak to your best customer.

5. Launch, monitor and improve

After launch you can read every conversation, and so do we. Transcripts show what customers actually want to know, which improves not just the bot but often your website content and sales process too. We refine the knowledge base and behaviour on an ongoing basis.

What does an AI chatbot cost?

Cost depends on the scope of the job, the number of integrations and the amount of source material to prepare. A focused lead-capture assistant on an existing website is a modest project; a multi-channel bot with CRM, booking and order integrations is a bigger build, with small ongoing costs for AI usage and hosting. We quote a fixed price after a short scoping conversation, so you know the numbers before anything starts.

How you will know it is working

We track the metrics that map to money: conversations started, leads and bookings captured, questions answered without human involvement and, where the integrations allow, what those leads went on to spend. If the transcripts show customers asking for something the business does not offer clearly enough, that insight alone often pays for the project.

Why Webgel

We are a web design and SEO agency based in Taunton, working across the UK and in Dubai, and we build chatbots as part of the website, not instead of it. That matters because a chatbot inherits the quality of the site around it: clear web design, fast pages and content that answers real questions all make the assistant better at its job. If your site needs that groundwork too, one team can do both.

    01.

    What is an AI chatbot?

An AI chatbot is a conversational assistant built on a large language model, the same technology behind tools like ChatGPT, trained on your business content. Unlike older rule-based bots, it holds natural conversations, answers real questions about your services and captures leads or bookings while doing so.

    02.

Will the chatbot make things up?

This is the right question to ask, and it is why we constrain every bot to a knowledge base built from your approved content. When a question falls outside that material, the bot says so and offers a handover to your team instead of guessing. We test against awkward and off-topic questions before launch, and every conversation is logged so you can check its behaviour.

    03.

How much does an AI chatbot cost in the UK?

It depends on scope. A focused lead-capture assistant on an existing website is a modest project, while a multi-channel bot with CRM, booking and order integrations is a larger build. There are also small ongoing costs for AI usage. We quote a fixed price after a short scoping conversation rather than publishing a one-size-fits-all figure.

    04.

Can the chatbot book appointments or take orders?

Yes, when connected to the right systems. We integrate chatbots with booking calendars, CRMs and e-commerce platforms including WooCommerce, OpenCart and Shopify, so a conversation can end in a confirmed booking or an order lookup rather than just an answer.

    05.

Does an AI chatbot work with WhatsApp?

Yes. The same assistant that runs on your website can be connected to WhatsApp Business, which many customers now prefer over email or phone. Conversations from both channels can feed into the same CRM and follow the same rules.

    06.

    Is a chatbot GDPR compliant?

A properly built one is. Conversations can contain personal data, so we design for UK GDPR from the start: clear privacy messaging in the chat, minimal data collection, appropriate transcript storage and AI providers with suitable data-processing terms. We document where conversation data goes so you can answer any question about it.

    07.

How long does it take to launch a chatbot?

A focused assistant on an existing website typically launches within a few weeks, most of which is knowledge-base preparation and testing. Builds with several integrations take longer. Testing is the one stage we never compress, because the bot speaks to your customers from day one.

    08.

Will it replace our receptionist or support team?

It works best alongside them. The bot absorbs the repetitive questions and the out-of-hours enquiries your team currently misses, and hands over anything that needs judgement or empathy. Most clients find their team spends less time repeating answers and more time on conversations that actually need a person.
